Sunflower Velvet Queen is a striking annual sunflower variety known for its rich, intense, and dramatic blooms. The plant features multiple velvety, deep-crimson, rusty red, or autumnal colored 5" blooms on sturdy, heavily branching stems, reaching a height of 5 to 8 feet. It is a highly ornamental choice for borders and cutting gardens, making fabulous additions to floral arrangements. This sunflower variety is prized for its unique coloration, with lush petals displaying an iridescent sheen in rich autumnal colors, framing a deep chocolate, almost black, center. Sunflower Velvet Queen is a great pollinator plant and prefers long, hot summers to thrive. It is recommended to thin the seedlings to 18 – 24″ apart for optimal growth and to keep the plants deadheaded until the end of the season.
