Leek Hilari is a fast-growing, medium green variety of leek with long, slender shafts. It can be harvested young in the summer for tasty mini-leeks or left to grow on. This variety is hardy enough to survive early. Leek is a non-bulb forming member of the onion family and biennial in growth habit. The blanched stems and leaves of leek are used in cooking. Hilari is an excellent leek for harvesting in the summer and autumn, giving 25-30 cm long narrow shafts with little bulbing and fresh, medium-green foliage. It is a fast-growing summer leek of the Schweizer Riesen type, suitable for harvesting in summer and early autumn, and it produces beautiful, 25-30 cm long, narrow shafts.
