Basil - Cinnamon - (600 seeds)

Cinnamon basil, also known as Mexican spice basil, is a type of basil (Ocimum basilicum) with a fragrant aroma and flavor reminiscent of cinnamon due to its content of methyl cinnamate. It has somewhat narrow, slightly serrated, dark green, shiny leaves with reddish-purple veins, which can resemble certain types of mint, and produces small, pink flowers from July to September. The plant is multi-branched with slender stems and small, narrow, glossy, and elongated leaves, typically growing to 18–30 inches tall. Cinnamon basil is native to tropical and subtropical climates and is used in teas, baked goods, pastas, salads, jellies, and vinegars. It is also used in dried floral arrangements and as a potpourri. The plant is easy to grow, requiring six to eight hours of bright sunlight per day and is sometimes planted near tomatoes and roses to discourage pests such as whiteflies. Cinnamon basil is a source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium. It is often used as an attractive garnish or to flavor hot drinks and other dishes.
